Blow it up and charge it up

So having a car means mobility and a sense of freedom — but it also brings with it a lot of baggage. As in having to keep a lot of different things working over time, called car maintenance. Now some of this is just what happens when a car is almost 10 years old, like having to put up with a firmware update that takes a day out of our life, or having to replace brake fluid and brake rotors. Not to mention (which we are) those continual oil changes. But then there is the unexpected which you can’t plan for. And which happen at the worst time whether you’re just getting into the car in the garage to leave or having tossed bags into the back seat after grocery shopping or are out on the road driving.

These two unexpected events occur to 1)the car battery and, 2)the tires. Because drivers expect both the battery and tires to do their job ever time without fail. But when they do fail, that’s when you’ll be happy that under the seat or in the trunk is gekogear’s AIRFLUX 300 Car Jump Starter with Air Compressor. So the AirFlux 300 – 2-in-1 Portable Air Pump & Jump Starter does the two things it says exactly.

The AIRFLUX 300 Car Jump Starter with Air Compressor is well made and fairly substantial weight-wise and uses a 1200mAh battery. The air pump works on tires on cars and motorcycles, but also can be used on bicycles and balls. The AIRFLUX 300 also has a portable power bank that is separated from the battery being used for jump starting. The power bank has 45 watts. The one output provides both 5V/2a and USB-C 5V/2a to 20V/2.25a for charging mobile devices.

The front of the AIRFLUX 300 provides the controls — Mode switch/Unit switch, the LED switch, Preset increase/decrease, the Power button and Start/Stop key. On one end is the air hose interface, LED light, Power interface and the Type-C charge port. Turning the AIRFLUX 300 on, pressing the start/stop button will start inflating and automatically stops inflating whe the rep set pressure valve is reached .

The air nozzles are used for different purposes: a valve for mountain bikes, cars, motorcycle and another valve for road bikes and some mountain bikes The ball needle fis or balls. For jump starting, the ignition clamp attaches to the power interface (red/green lights flashing alternately) — you open the hood and attach the =ignition clamp polarity to ghe car battery (positive and negative)

So it might sound convenient — or coincidental — but 2 days after we got the AIRFLUX 300, the tire pressure sensor warning light and associated beeping went off in our car as we were driving on the highway. Taking the off ramp and pulling over, an inspection found that a nail was driven into the front left tire and apparently had been slowly bleeding off air. Which eventually had tripped the sensor. We immediately, and slowly, made our way to our nearby car maintenance shop to have it dealt with.

Of course an emergency isn’t the only time the air compressor comes in handy. Periodic checking of the tire pressure could find that some inflating might be needed — the reverse being true when it’s very hot (as I was told) the air pressure can increase. Both of which can trip off the sensor. In fact, when having an oil change a few months earlier (where we always ask for the tire pressure to be checked), we were told that one of the tires needed some air bled off, as it was reading 32 P.S.I. Instead of the correct 29. Had we had the AIRFLUX 300 then, we could have periodically checked tire pressure. Because an overinflated tire can cause a blowout, among other problems, it’s to be avoided. And under inflated tires cause problems as well. We’ll be able to avoid that now.

The AirFlux 300 – 2-in-1 Portable Air Pump & Jump Starter includes a hose, charging cable, ball needle, presto valve and clamp. Plus a storage bag to hold it all. For more details go to https://www.mygekogear.com/products/airflux-300/
