Photos Should Need A Screen To Be Seen

There’s this misconception that sharing digital photos — not having a printed picture you can hold in your hand — is vastly superior to the old days when you took a photo with a camera and then had the picture printed. But for most, not having a physical print means never seeing the picture because it stays hidden inside a smartphone’s screen.

Maybe what’s needed is to make that printed picture interactive — but not in a “look at my screen” way but in a way that causes an interaction between family members. That’s the idea behind MYPuzzle.com.

A Puzzle You Make

MyPuzzle.com is all about creating an exciting puzzle from a photo . In an ironic twist, a digital photo is uploaded to the website in order to be transformed. And once transferred, the now-created physical puzzle is boxed and delivered to be enjoyed. For the millions of puzzle lovers out there, turning over the box and dumping out the puzzle bits is a visceral feeling that can’t be duplicated.

So let’s get to it. The first step is to decide how many puzzle pieces the puzzle will have — we’ll make this difficult and definitely for adults by choosing 1000 (the image is s sepia toned print turned digital of our grandfathers shoe store from back in the 1950’s). Since the image is horizontal, we choose that for the puzzle as well. Well pass over the AI options for a travel poster or a 3d cartoon movie style (this being an additional fee) and follow that up with a choice for color for the background pattern for the box and also the box color. Finally you can add a message to be printed on the box lid.

The above e process can be done pretty quickly (especially if the person approaches doing this with a good idea as t what they want). But since it’s all done online, there’s no rush.

Is It Here Yet?

Now we wait — yeah that’s the hard part but in general it shouldn’t be more than a few weeks before the puzzle shows up. In our case it was about two weeks from when we uploaded the picture to when it arrived through the post office in our hands. What we got was a box with the picture of the puzzle on it, along with an interior poster that showed how the puzzle looks when assembled.
