Bluetti is there when there's no power

You Got The Power

Electricity is an indispensable part of our lives but have you ever noticed how nobody thinks about it until it’s not there? Those living in SoCal (like us) are used to the fear each summer of the electrical grid getting overwhelmed and shutting down. Or power being cut due to a rolling blackout or a transformer getting blown or a wild fire negating electric lines for days on end. Which leave us hoping it’s not so hot as to be miserable or having all the food in the refrigerator spoiled

So what’s the home owner to do who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on ridiculously expensive battery backups that have to be installed by professionals? What’s needed is a portable battery backup system that doesn’t require massive funds or expensive installation costs and is flexible enough to handle the day by day operations of the average home. Plus portable enough to not be confined only to the home — and also can be used by the apartment dweller who usually gets no say when the power’s cut. That’s exactly where BLUETI’s Apex 300 Portable Power Station comes into play, because it’s a serious but sensible and definitely doable solution.

The Apex 300 Portable Power Station

So first off the Apex 300 (2,764.8Wh) isn’t a light unit — in fact it’s pretty heavy at 65+ lbs., granted there are handles on both sides for gripping. You can pick it up but as that might be hernia inducing, having wheels would’ve been a nice addition. Not being the case, the easiest thing to do is to get a small metal dolly if you’re going to be moving it around a lot. So that’s what we did. The point is this is a heavy substantial unit not even counting putting the additional battery packs beneath it.

The Apex 300 is chock-full of outlets, which makes it viable for use: 4 20a AC outlets, 2 50a AC outlets and a 30a AC outlet. There’s also a grounding terminal (needed for powering certain appliances), a LCD panel, ECO mode and an AC output voltage selector and charging mode selector. Plus a removable dust filter (there being an internal fan to keep the unit from overheating). The LCD panel provides all the information you could ask for, or need. But you can also use the app to customize working modes via WiFi and Bluetooth and work many of the same controls that otherwise would need to be done at the Apex 300 itself. Plus showing power going in as well as out visually. For those concerned about security and not about distance, avoid WiFi and use the Bluetooth connection which does require being in shorter range but still transfers commands quickly (we used Bluetooth to update the Apex 300’s firmware and had no issues at all).

The B300K is a stand-alone battery unit that connects to the Apex 300 and provides additional power (2754.8Wh). It has minimal ports; there is a USB-A along with two large battery extension ports (plus a battery indicator) — these extension ports are for one daisy chaining it to another battery with the other for connecting to the Apex 300 (the connection cable is provided). Size wise it looks similar to the Apex 300 but is not as heavy (aprox 65 lbs) and has less height and also included side handles Its dimensions allow for it to be placed beneath the Apex 300 where it sits snugly.

For charging you can use the electric outlet or an optional solar panel or even an EV charging station.
